Laketown is a village built partially on a large lake in the citystate of Port Loams. It is the only major village in Port Loams that is not a port town on the west coast. The villagers of Laketown are mostly farmers and fishermen. They use floodgates and drydock mechanisms to harvest cranberries and navaroot by farming on man made land plots in the lake, and then flooding the land to easily harvest the crops. They also use the docks to herd ducks and other water fowl.
The townsfolk believe in the legend of a dragon who lives in the lake. It is said that the dragon protects the people of lake town, and in return, the people offer gifts of food and valuables to the dragon to appease him. it is said that should the town ever come under attack, the dragon will rise from the lake and kill any invaders. As dragons are a rare species (some say extinct), the legend remains a myth, though it is still enough to unnerve armies travelling through the area. In the Great War of Southron, not a single army confiscated supplies from laketown, harmed any citizens, or used it to house its men.
